Morgan le Fay
Arthur's half-sister, a sorceress of great learning who works against him and at the end carries him to Avalon.
Morgan le Fay is the daughter of Igraine and Duke Gorlois of Cornwall, which makes her Arthur's half-sister. She was sent to a nunnery as a girl and there became a great scholar of healing and of necromancy.
For much of Arthur's reign she works against him and his court. She arranges the theft of Excalibur's scabbard, sends enchanted gifts to Camelot, and sets traps for the knights she despises, above all Lancelot, whom she imprisons more than once.
Yet the sources never make her simply wicked. She is one of the three queens who come for Arthur after Camlann, and it is in her barge, with her grief, that he is carried to Avalon.
