Avalon

Avalon is an island of the Otherworld, called the Isle of Apples, where the fields bear crops without ploughing and the orchards fruit without tending. It is ruled by nine sisters skilled in healing and enchantment, of whom Morgan is the eldest and most learned.

Some of the old writers say Excalibur was forged there.

After the Battle of Camlann, three queens in black hoods came in a barge to carry the mortally wounded Arthur to Avalon to be healed of his wounds. Whether he died there, or sleeps there still, the sources do not agree. Many in Britain believe he will return in the hour of the island's greatest need, and the canon leaves that door open.
