Excalibur
Arthur's sword, given by the Lady of the Lake, and a scabbard worth more than the blade.
Excalibur is the sword of King Arthur. After the sword he drew from the stone was broken in battle, Merlin led him to a lake where an arm clothed in white samite rose from the water holding a sword. The Lady of the Lake granted it to him in exchange for a gift to be named later.
Its blade shines so brightly in battle that enemies are dazzled by it.
Merlin told Arthur that the scabbard was worth ten of the sword, because while he wore it he would lose no blood, however badly he was wounded. The scabbard was later stolen through the schemes of Morgan le Fay and thrown into a lake, and Arthur never recovered it.
At the end, dying after Camlann, Arthur commanded Sir Bedivere to throw Excalibur back into the water. Twice Bedivere hid it instead. The third time he obeyed, and the hand rose again, caught the sword, brandished it three times, and drew it under.
