Camelot
Arthur's chief castle and city, seat of the Round Table and the brightest court in Christendom.
Camelot is the chief seat of King Arthur, a city of towers and bright banners set on a hill above a river, with a great hall where the Round Table stands.
The court gathers there for the high feasts of the year, especially Pentecost, when Arthur by custom does not sit down to eat until he has heard of some marvel or adventure. Many quests begin this way, with a stranger arriving at the feast.
Its exact location was never agreed upon by the old writers. Malory placed it at Winchester. Others placed it in Wales or the West Country. Within this canon, Camelot is wherever the story needs it to be, as long as the journey times stay consistent with what the chain already records.
